For all interested students and parents, here is the listing of requirements for
membership in Arista. (National Junior Honor Society)
1. Grade Eligibility:
The student must be in the 8th Grade
2. Scholarship:
a. A cumulative average of at least 90% (rounded) in all subjects by the fourth marking
period in the 7th grade and the 1st and 2nd marking period in the 8th grade. No average
lower than 88% in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th marking period of the 7th grade and with no average
lower than 89% in the 1st and 2nd marking periods in the 8th grade,

b. No failing grades in any subjects (majors or minors) in any grade in any
marking period.
c. All subjects, major or minors are used in the average. (weighted accordingly)
Character and Citizenship:
A. At least satisfactory ratings in conduct are required. Any "Unsatisfactory"
ratings in conduct or more then one "Needs Improvement": mark in conduct in any
making period is grounds for exclusion.
B. Review and approval by entire staff with regard to character and citizenship.
This will include conduct in halls, cafeteria and auditorium.
C. Satisfactory attendance.
D. Cooperation at all rehearsals and group meetings.
School service may include service on a school squad, service as a monitor, color guard member,
tutoring. Community service may include membership in a civic organization, serving in a choir at a
hours at I.S. 25.
